NCTF-Red Hill prepares for AFFF Concentrate Removal

HONOLULU, Hawaii (April 5, 2024) - Navy Closure Task Force - Red Hill (NCTF-RH) leaders and technical experts were joined onsite at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility today with regulators from the Environmental Protection Agency and the Hawaii Department of Health. 

The onsite team conducted a final walk through of the operational plan and spill mitigation measures in-place to safely remove the 900 gallons of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) from the lower tank gallery. NCTF-RH will begin the removal on April 8, pending approval from the regulatory agencies.
