The exercise, run by Navy Closure Task Force - Red Hill (NCTF-RH), rehearsed roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in the event of a potential spill at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) and is a key milestone in the transition of efforts from Joint Task Force-Red Hill. Charged with the safe decommissioning of the RHBFSF, NCTF-RH was established by the Department of the Navy as a commitment to the community and the environment. The Navy continues to engage with the people of Hawaii, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders as NCTF-RH works to safely and deliberately decommission the RHBFSF. JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii – Navy Closure Task Force - Red Hill (NCTF-RH) hosted a team of experts from several organizations to conduct a tabletop exercise focused on a fuel spill scenario at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) Feb. 22.

Navy to Attend February Community Representation Initiative (CRI) Meeting

The Navy will be participating in the next Community Representation Initiative (CRI) meeting on Feb. 15, 2024. The Navy will discuss water quality, its Extended Drinking Water Monitoring plan, and give an update on its mission to safely decommission the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF).

Navy Closure Task Force – Red Hill Holds Plank Owner Ceremony, Emphasizing Safety, Collaboration

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii, – Navy Closure Task Force–Red Hill (NCTF-RH) held a plank owner ceremony Jan. 18, officially marking the beginning of initial operations of the task force and emphasizing the significance of naval tradition and the responsibility entrusted to the team.

Navy Closure Task Force - Red Hill (NCTF-RH) is tasked with executing tank cleaning, closure and decommissioning of the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) as well as the long term continued environmental recovery and revitalization of the Red Hill Drinking Water Shaft, and complete restoration of the Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH) Drinking Water System.
